Century Restoration Inc. has a simple philosophy with respect to the proper installation of caulking and sealants; prepare the surface to provide a stable, clean substrate, select the proper primer and sealant combination that will have excellent adhesion, and install it according to the manufacturer’s guidelines to ensure long term performance and warranty coverage. Of course, this is easier said than done.

Don’t cheat the cleaning at the bondline. Most contractors approach caulking preparation with the idea that the less that they do will allow them to complete their work faster. At Century Restoration Inc., we believe that the more substrate preparation we do, the longer the work will last and our customer relationship will lead to more work and more profits. In fact, our company started out as a metal restoration company back in the eighties where we did nothing but scrub large metal buildings, so when I told our crews that the only thing they had to clean was the ½ inch bondline for the caulking, all they wanted to do were caulking jobs. The result was that our crews consistently produced better jobs that the sealant manufacturer’s representatives loved because we made the warranty inspection of our work so easy.

Make sure the Manufacturer’s Representative sees and approves our work. We have developed life-long relationships with most of the sealant representatives in the business because we make their job so easy. We invite them to the job early and often so that they can be assured that we will never short-cut an installation method, we trouble-shoot problems early and work together to provide our customers with the best possible combination of products and installation with the strongest warranties to ensure their precious maintenance dollars are well spent.

Because we know how buildings are built, we choose the right method to waterproof them after they leak. Having cut our teeth in new construction during the eighties, we had the benefit of seeing how curtain walls, plaza decks and foundation walls were built so that when these installations began to fail because of shoddy methods or poor product selection, we understood the proper ways to fix them.

We developed extrusions and molded boots used for exterior waterproofing. In fact, our owner, Kelly McBride created some of the first heat-cured silicone extrusions and molded boots back in the eighties and has more experience with these state-of-the-art methods than any other contractor. The bottom line is that Century Restoration Inc. will use the best method and products that will provide the greatest value over the long term to maximize your investment.
